Frequently asked questions
Can you cut an opening in a load-bearing wall?
Yes, but in a load-bearing wall the opening needs a lintel or supports to carry the load. We recommend agreeing the size and reinforcement with a structural engineer, and we then cut the opening precisely to the design.
Can you widen an existing door or window opening?
Yes. We widen and deepen existing door and window openings to the size you need, keeping the edges straight and smooth. Any stone or tile finish around the opening stays intact.
How thick a wall can you cut for an opening?
We cut openings in thin partitions as well as thick reinforced-concrete walls and slabs. We select the tool to match the wall thickness and material, including where there is reinforcement.
Can you work in an occupied multi-storey building without dust?
Yes. We work with water cooling, so there is no dust, noise or vibration, and neighbours are not disturbed. We collect and remove the resulting debris.
How quickly do you come out, and how is the price set?
We usually reach the site within 1–2 working days. The site visit and quote are free, and the price depends on the size of the opening, the wall thickness and the material.
